How Does Soda Work On The Skin?

Soda, or sodium bicarbonate if you prefer its scientific name, can help with many skin diseases. It is made up of various bioactive components that are beneficial to your skin’s health. Soda is also excellent at penetrating the skin and nourishes the cells that are deeper inside the skin. Soda masks, for that reason, are much better than every other.

The carbon contained in soda assists the sebaceous glands on your skin and it stops inflammation. On the other hand, the hydrogen and oxygen will soften the skin’s outer layer and will help the other ingredients do their work. Acne soda, in particular, combats bacteria, inflammation and moisturizes the skin. Using soda to peel the skin will reduce the number of spores, remove toxins and generally improve the skin’s health.

In summary, soda will:

  • Rejuvenate cells filled with toxins
  • Regenerate skin due to its ability to influence metabolism
  • Reduce acne and make skin cuticle easy to remove after a massage
  • Reduce freckles and age spots if applied often.

How To Use Soda To Treat Acne?

You can use regular baking soda to remove acne from your face. Prepare the mixture by adding baking soda with a small amount of water in a bowl. Mix it until you get a thin paste. Apply this paste on the acne spots. If your skin is sensitive, then do not leave the mixture on for more than 15-30 minutes. If your skin, however, doesn’t get irritated, you can keep the paste on for longer.

To remove it, wash the soda with a warm towel.

Disclaimer: If your skin gets too irritated and the condition worsens, stop using soda altogether.

You should also use baking soda to exfoliate your skin once every week. This will help in removing dead skin cells that block the pores on your face, resulting in acne. To begin exfoliating your skin, add 1 teaspoon (4.9ml) of baking soda on top of the product you already use for facial cleansing. Alternatively, you can mix this teaspoon of baking soda with natural, raw honey.

Apply the product of your choice on your face using circular motions. Make sure to keep the product away from the sensitive skin around the eyes.

You may also use a baking soda mask for your face once a week to combat acne. For this, use 2 tablespoons (40 grams) of baking soda and 2 tablespoons (30ml) of water and mix them in a bowl. Apply the mixture on your face, making sure not to touch the area around the eyes. After 15-30 minutes, remove the mask with warm water. If your skin is sensitive, leave it only for 5-10 minutes.

If the mask ends up being too thick or too thin, adjust the amount of soda you are using.

How To Use Soda To Treat Body Acne?

Next time you bathe, use baking soda to eliminate acne spots. Add warm water in your bathtub and add half a glass (170 grams) of soda. Soak in the tub for 15-30 minutes.

For people with sensitive skin, you should not stay inside for longer than 10 minutes. While taking a bath, scrub your body with the help of a towel or sponge.

To prevent skin pore blockage and acne, use baking soda to exfoliate your skin. For this mixture, you need 3 servings of baking soda and 1 part water. Mix them in a bowl and rub the product on the skin while you are taking a shower. You may even mix the soda with body gel or milk.

To keep acne off your back and your neck, use baking soda to create a shampoo. This will remove dirt and the remains of other cosmetic products that contribute to the creation of acne. Add 1/2 teaspoon ( 4 grams) of baking soda in your shampoo bottle. Use the shampoo to clean yourself as you normally would. Make sure to rinse your hair carefully to remove all the soda, so that it won’t dry the scalp.

Some Homemade Masks For Soda

How to Use Soda To Treat Acne?

You can make your own ointment or soda mask to get rid of acne. We will offer you many easy-to-use recipes:

Use lemon juice

Soda:1.5-2 teaspoons; water:1-2 teaspoons; lemon or orange juice:1 teaspoon – Mix everything and apply on the face for 10-15 minutes. Wipe it off with warm water, dry your face thoroughly and use a gentle nutrient cream.

Use oatmeal

Soda water: 1 teaspoon; oatmeal: 1 teaspoon. Crush the oatmeal using a coffee grinder and dry it until it turns into powder. Keep the 1 tablespoon of the mixture dry before use. Add a small amount of water to this mixture to avoid making it too slurry. Use it on your face for about 20 minutes every other day.

Use salt

You can create a powerful exfoliating mask that may be too harsh for your skin. If it ends up creating inflammation on your skin, you should avoid using it. Mix soda and salt in equal amounts. Wash the skin with soap and massage this mixture carefully. Rinse it after 10 minutes, using only cold water. Do this once every week.

Use sugar

Sugar: 1 teaspoon and soda: dissolved 1 teaspoon in a cup of warm water. Use a swab and wet it with the mixture and wipe the acne-affected area. Dry the skin and clean it with soap. After that, apply butter on the face for 1 hour. Wash it off with warm water, but be careful not to use soap.

Use flour

2 tablespoons of flour. 1 teaspoon of soda. Mix everything while they are dry. Add some water to make a paste that can be spread across the skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes. You should do this every week.

Wash with soda water

This way of washing is just like using a mask. Pour some soda on your hands and add water until it turns into jelly. Rub this mixture on your face, gently spreading it with your fingers for about 10-15 seconds. Rinse with cold water. This can be done daily and you don’t need to dry afterward.

Use sour cream or fat cream

Use a mask if you have especially dry skin that requires constant care. The type of mask you can create depends on the kind of cream you add to the mix. Use 1 teaspoon of soda, 1/2 teaspoon of sour cream or fat cream. You need the mask to be soft and flexible.

Add some boiling water if it’s necessary. We recommend you add a teaspoon of lemon juice too. Apply the mixture after you dilute it on the skin and wait 20 minutes. For best results, add the mask after you step out of a hot bath, twice every week.

The tip to making a moisturizing scrub

To make a moisturizing scrub, mix baking soda, avocado oil, and lavender oil. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda (40 grams) and avocado oil in a small container. Finally, pour a few drops of lavender oil and mix it well. Apply the mix by massaging for 5 minutes and then rinse.

Make sure to use a scrub every week to keep acne from developing.

Things To Watch Out For

When cleaning your face with soda, there are some rules you need to keep in mind:

  • Before washing, spread some soda to the wrist, elbow or on the skin behind the ear and leave it for 10 minutes. If these areas turn red and get irritated, do not use soda for washing.
  • Make sure the soda is not expired. Using old soda in mixtures doesn’t provide any benefits at all. Quite the opposite, it might end up damaging the skin.
  • To get the best results, soda should first be dissolved in filtered water or mineral water.
  • To test for potential allergies, wipe the soda in a circular motion and massage the area for 1-2 minutes. Do not keep a mask on your face for longer than 10 minutes.
  • Use cold water or herbal soup to rinse any mixture off the face. Apply a moisturizer on your face, after peeling.
  • You shouldn’t repeat these processes too often – even if it gets you amazing results. Beauticians will advise you that using baking soda for washing once every week is enough.
  • If your goal is to eliminate acne or other skin conditions, then you may clean the skin every 4-5 days, after consulting with an expert.
